Tension springs

Tension springs have the windings pressed together. When used, the springs are pulled apart under a certain force. When this force is taken way, the spring returns to its original position.

To pull the tension springs apart, they have to be equipped with eyes or spring studs.

German eyes & English eyes

• A German eye is a reversed winding
• English eyes have the winding go over the heart of the spring before it forms an eye.

For both types of eye a difference is made between open and closed eyes. In open eyes, the eye is hooked into something, in closed eyes something is hooked in the eye.

Another option is to equip the tension spring with double eyes, or a metal stud (spring studs).

It is of course possible to customise another type of eye to your specifications.

Material

The tension springs are made in our factory in Almere on automatically controlled CNC winding machines. The springs can be winded out of a large assortment of spring steel with a wire thickness of 0.25 to 11 mm.

• Class-DH spring steel to 2 mm
• Class-SH spring steel (also called class-C) 2 mm and upwards
• Chrome-Silicium
• Chrome-Vanadium
• Rust proof spring steel: RVS 302 , RVS 316
• Phosphor bronce
• Inconel X750

We also produce compression springs from oval or square wire. Please contact us for more information on the possibilities.

Treatment

The tension springs produced by ATV Springs can be supplied with various additional treatments. All springs are tempered (subjected to heat treatment). There is also the possibility to give the compression springs an additional surface treatment.

• Chroming
• Galvanizing
• Passifying
• Nickel plating
